Shrek the Third Koning Harald van het koninkrijk Far Far Away blijkt ernstig ziek te zijn. De groene ogre Shrek is zijn schoonzoon en daardoor de beoogde nieuwe koning. Shrek voelt hier maar weinig voor, want dan moet hij het prachtige moerasgebied verlaten waar hij zo graag woont. Samen met zijn vrienden Donkey en Puss in Boots gaat de groene kolos op zoek naar een potentiële troonopvolger in de persoon van Artie, een neef van de koning. Terwijl Shrek van huis is, probeert zijn geliefde prinses Fiona het koninkrijk te verdedigen tegen een staatsgreep van Prince Charming. | Kijkwijzer: Let op met kinderen tot 6 jaar, programma bevat geweld, angst en grof taalgebruik.
